Our Mission

Tasked with meeting the challenge of providing a broad range of environmental solutions, Ecology Services, Inc. (ESI) uses cutting edge technology to address the needs of government, industrial, county, and residential consumers. Incorporated in 1989 (a Maryland Corporation), ESI was formed to meet the market demand for a customer service oriented firm providing both superior and cost effective turnkey services for radioactive waste management, health physics support, and refuse and recycling services.

Radiation Safety and Radioactive Waste Brokerage Services

In the arena of radioactive materials safety and waste management, ESI makes available to the consumer the most experienced team of professionals in the industry.

Among the services offered, the following options are available:

  • Radioactive waste management, transport and disposal
  • Radioactive material license applications and amendments
  • Radiation protection program development, audits, and assessments
  • Radiation safety consulting and training
  • Emergency response / spill cleanup

Decontamination and Decommissioning (D&D)

  • Emergency response and cleanup, radioactive and other HAZMAT materials
  • Decontamination of buildings and facilities
  • Characterization and final status survey design and implementation (MARSSIM)
  • Computer modeling and assessments (D&D, RESRAD)
  • Facility license termination activities and reports

Refuse and Recycling

ESI and associated companies presently perform contract services for:
  • Sixty-four percent of refuse and recycling for Anne Arundel County
  • Forty-four percent of refuse and recycling for Montgomery County
  • Twenty-five percent of refuse and recycling for Howard County

Federal Government Contracting

ESI provides on-site and off-site management of medical waste to the nation's largest biomedical research facility. Additionally, ESI provides solid waste and recycling services to the Federal Government to include internal collection and off-site recycling of paper, plastic, glass, aluminum, cardboard, pallets, scrap metal, lead, tyvek, toner cartridges and compost/food waste.

    Ecology Services, Inc. is proud to announce the issuance of our new Radioactive Materials License MD-07-229-01 for our Low Level Radioactive Waste handling warehouse facility in Baltimore, MD. This license permits ESI to perform a wide range of rad waste brokerage services including decay-in- storage, and it also allows ESI to engage in waste packaging and decontamination/decommissioning activities at client sites.
